weekend football bets

As we hurtle towards the final third of the season, Nottingham Forest remain well in the title mix whilst Spurs and Manchester United continue to suffer, our tips will help your bets on this crazy Premier League season!

Our tips will consist of the following categories:

·   The Banker – A bet with shorter odds that is typically, statistically, more likely to happen.

·   The Earner – An upgrade on the banker that holds more potential profit, at a greater risk.

·   The Long Shot – A bet with longer odds that aims to secure significant profit but as the name suggests, is often difficult to pull off.

·   The Accumulator – A combination of often shorter odd bets to create a longer, more profitable accumulator.

The Banker - (8/5)

Matheus Cunha & Kai Havertz to both have a shot on target (8/5)

Wolves host Arsenal, who are suffering a period of shaky form, on Saturday with the home side looking to recover the performances they displayed at the start of Vitor Periera’s reign.

Matheus Cunha may have come under fire for his body language by Periera but the Brazilian is consistently Wolves’ standout performer and looks great odds at 5/6 to have a shot on target, considering his average of 1.27 shots on target per 90 this Premier League season.

Arsenal typically have been great at shutting out their opposition but Arteta’s men have allowed four shots on target against them in four of their previous five games in all competitions. Wolves playing at Molineux should only further help Cunha’s chances too.

Kai Havertz has managed a shot on target in all five of his previous Premier League games and with Gabriel Jesus picking up an ACL injury, Havertz is likely to be saddled with the responsibility of being the Gunners main striker.

The Earner - (3/1)

Alexander Isak & Anthony Gordon to both score or assist, Newcastle to win and have the most corners (3/1)

You may question why this bet is so heavily in favour of Newcastle after the Magpies surprisingly lost at home to Bournemouth last weekend, when you see that they’re travelling to St Mary’s to face Southampton - it starts to make sense.

Isak’s goalless display last Saturday ended what was an incredible eight game scoring streak for the Swede, whilst his performance against Bournemouth was disappointing, the Newcastle talisman shouldn’t take too long to rediscover his shooting boots with 20 G/A in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

Anthony Gordon was on a similarly outstanding run of form prior to Newcastle’s loss to Bournemouth, with the below par performance bringing the 23-year-old’s run of recording a goal contribution for nine straight games in all competitions, to an end.

Gordon and Isak will be undoubtedly licking their lips at facing a Southampton side who are currently facing a distinct possibility of being one of the worst ever Premier League teams, the Saints have conceded 50 goals this campaign and shouldn’t be difficult to score against.

As for corners, Newcastle average 5.82 corners per game whilst Southampton average 4.5 per game and typically allow plenty against them.

The Long Shot - (7/1)

Both teams to score, both Erling Haaland & Cole Palmer to have two or more shots on target (7/1)

Chelsea’s visit to the Etihad is clearly the headline fixture of this weekend’s billing. The champions continue to look fragile after throwing away a two-goal lead to PSG in midweek.

Man City have only kept two clean sheets in their past eight Premier League games and with these two sides being joint third for goals scored in the league this campaign, both teams finding the back of the net in this clash is certainly a possibility.

Erling Haaland has scored four goals in as many games in the Premier League and continues to average the most shots on target in the entire league with an average of 2.18 shots on target per 90.

Former Citizen, Cole Palmer, has recorded four shots on target in his previous two Premier League games and is averaging 1.41 shots on target per 90 this season. Palmer still managed a shot on target in the reverse fixture at the very start of the season despite the Blues suffering a slow start and Palmer being utilised as a right-winger.

The Accumulator - (10/1)

Brighton, Liverpool & Tottenham to win and Manchester City to be a draw with Chelsea (10/1)

Brighton suffered a recent slump in form under Fabian Hurzeler, but the Seagulls have enjoyed a recent resurgence, winning three straight games in all competitions and not tasting defeat in seven. Everton may have impressively defeated Tottenham last Sunday but the Toffees have only won a single game on the road this season in ten attempts.

Table toppers, Liverpool, host Ipswich Town on Saturday with the Tractor Boys offered no respite from their 6-0 hammering at home to Manchester City last gameweek. The Reds swept aside Ipswich 2-0 at Portman Road earlier in the season and will likely cruise past McKenna’s side again.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea are suffering an unfavourable and unpredicatble run of form. These two sides drew both times they met in the Premier League last season and could well cancel each other out at the Etihad with 3/1 being a great price for the draw.

Tottenham are injury ridden currently but a win on the road against Hoffenheim in midweek will go someway to recovering the morale within Postecoglou’s squad. The morale of Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester will be on the floor, the Foxes have lost seven straight league games and with rumours of unrest behind the scenes, it’s hardly a cheery time to be a fan of Leicester.
